What Temperature / Super Freezing / Running indicator lights (bright blue / bright blue / bright green) means
A Maytag chest freezer with a three-light control uses its lights as status signals, not error codes. The bright blue Temperature light shows the setting on a scale from MIN to MAX, where MAX is the coldest. The second bright blue light means Super Freezing mode is on, and it goes off when you exit that mode. The bright green Running light means the compressor is working, and it goes off when the compressor stops.
Common causes of Temperature / Super Freezing / Running indicator lights (bright blue / bright blue / bright green)
- Super Freezing mode left on, which is a user setting
- Temperature set too low or too high for the contents
- Running light off because the compressor is between cycles
- Freezer off or without power if all lights are dark
1. Read the lights: blue Temperature for the setting, blue Super for fast-freeze mode, green Running for the compressor. 2. Set the temperature toward MAX for colder, toward MIN for warmer. 3. Turn Super Freezing off if you no longer need it. 4. If no lights show, check that the plug is seated and the outlet has power. 5. Close the lid fully.

Is a green Running light on all the time normal?
Not always. The light follows the compressor, so it goes off when the compressor stops between cycles. If it is on nonstop and the freezer is warm, call us.
What is Super Freezing mode?
It is a fast-freezing mode shown by the second blue light. It is a setting you choose, and the light goes off when you exit the mode.
Which way is colder on the Temperature light?
MAX is the coldest and MIN is the warmest. Move the setting toward MAX if the contents feel too soft, and give the freezer several hours to respond.
