Why is my hood fan so weak?
A grease-clogged filter, a blocked or crushed duct, a damper stuck shut or a motor running slowly can all reduce airflow. We check the filter and the duct path before looking at the motor.
Is a noisy hood motor repairable?
Often. A loose fan wheel or a dry bearing can be dealt with, and a motor that has worn out is replaced. We listen first, then decide whether it is the wheel, the housing or the motor itself.
Can you tell if my hood vents outdoors?
Yes. We trace the duct from the hood up and out, and check that the outside cap opens. A recirculating hood has charcoal filters instead of a duct, and those need replacing on a schedule.
