What F01 or F02 means
F01 and F02 appear on Maytag electric and gas freestanding and slide-in ranges, including the MGR6751BDW. They point to the oven temperature sensor, the oven control or the wiring between them. Put simply, the control is not getting a temperature reading it can use. Owners see the code, and the oven may not preheat, may shut off during a bake or may run at the wrong temperature. The code names a circuit to check, and does not prove the sensor itself is bad.
Common causes of F01 or F02
- Oven temperature sensor out of its expected range
- Sensor wiring or connector
- Oven control board reading the sensor
1. Let the oven cool. 2. Turn the range's circuit breaker off for one minute and turn it on again. 3. Monitor the oven for one minute to see whether F01 or F02 returns. 4. Verify oven operation with a short bake. 5. Do not bend or pull on the sensor inside the oven.
- A reset only tells us whether the problem happens again, not which of the three circuits is responsible.
- We test the sensor reading and its connector before touching the control, and you see the price in writing first.
Other Range codes
How are F01 and F02 different?
Both lead to the same sensor, control and wiring check. The two numbers let the control record which reading looked wrong, and we use that when we start testing.
Can a sensor be checked at home?
Not safely or reliably without tools. Please keep your checks to the breaker reset and a short bake, and leave resistance testing and wiring to us.
Why did my oven stop partway through baking?
If the control loses a usable reading, it can end the cycle to avoid overheating. That fits these codes, so write down when it happened and tell us.
Still seeing F01 or F02?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
