What PUSH or PSH means
PUSH or PSH on a Maytag electric or gas freestanding or slide-in range, such as the MER7662WS0, is a prompt, not a problem. The Start pad begins any oven function, and if you do not press it within five seconds of choosing a function, the display shows PUSH or PSH. If Start still is not pressed within one minute of the last keypad touch, the function is canceled and the time of day returns.
Common causes of PUSH or PSH
- Start pad not pressed after choosing a function
- Start pad that does not register touches
- Control that needs a power reset
1. Choose your oven function again. 2. Press Start within five seconds. 3. Confirm the oven begins the function. 4. If Start does not respond, switch the range's breaker off for one minute and back on. 5. Watch the oven for one minute and repeat the steps.
- If Start is pressed correctly and the prompt keeps returning, the keypad or control needs testing.
- We check whether the key registers before looking at the board.
- You get a written price first.

Why did my oven cancel my setting?
If Start is not pressed within one minute after you touch a key, the oven cancels the function and shows the time of day. Just set it again and press Start in time.
Does PSH mean the oven is broken?
No. It is an instruction to press Start, shown in shortened form on displays with fewer characters. Pressing Start in time clears it, and the oven then begins the function you chose.
What if Start does nothing?
Try the breaker reset. If the pad still will not register, the keypad or the control may need repair, and we can test it on a visit and give you a written price before any work.
Still unsure about PUSH or PSH?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
