What FC E4 or FC E5 means
FC E4 and FC E5 appear on connected Maytag electric and gas ranges, both freestanding and slide-in, including the MER8850DS and MER7662WS0. Unlike the router-connection codes in the same FC family, these two point at the range itself: the Wi-Fi antenna or the wiring that serves it. The oven is not overheating and nothing is wrong with the baking circuits. What you notice is the code on the display and a range that will not hold a wireless connection to your phone app.
Common causes of FC E4 or FC E5
- Wi-Fi antenna that is not delivering a signal
- Wiring between the antenna and the control
- Brief power disturbance that left the connected features confused
1. Switch the range's circuit breaker off for one minute. 2. Switch it back on. 3. Stay near the range and watch the display for a full minute. 4. If the code stays away, confirm the oven and cooktop run normally. 5. If it returns, keep using the range as an ordinary oven and write down which code appears.
- A returning code means the antenna or its wiring still holds the condition, and a breaker reset cannot clear that.
- We trace the antenna lead and connections before suggesting any part, and tell you plainly if the repair is not worth it on an older range.
- The price is written and agreed before we start.
Other Range codes
Can I still bake while FC E5 shows?
Usually yes. The code concerns the wireless side, so manual baking and cooktop use are normally unaffected. Only app features and remote start depend on the antenna.
Is this a router problem like FC E1?
No. The E1 to E3 group describes a failed connection to the router, while E4 and E5 point to the antenna inside the range, so changing router settings will not help.
Do you repair older connected ranges?
Yes. Many of these ranges are still in homes, and we repair them. If a repair costs more than it makes sense to spend, we say so before you decide.
Still unsure about FC E4 or FC E5?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
