What FEE7 means
FEE7 belongs to the Maytag range family, both electric and gas, freestanding or slide-in, for instance the MER8850DS. It refers to the main cavity broil element and its wiring. The control checks that circuit as the oven runs, and FEE7 says the reading was not what it expected. It identifies where to look, not a part that has already failed. Typically the display shows it together with weak or missing broil heat, or an oven that stops a cycle early.
Common causes of FEE7
- Broil element circuit that the control flags
- Loose or damaged wiring at the element
- Oven control that reads the circuit
1. Shut the oven off and wait until the cavity is cool. 2. At the breaker panel, flip the breaker that feeds this range to off. Count to sixty. 3. Flip it on again. 4. Look at the display for about a minute. 5. Bake briefly, then try broil. If FEE7 shows again, do not keep using the oven.
- If FEE7 returns, a reset has not removed the cause, and the element, wiring and control all stay possible.
- We test the circuit in that order so you only pay for what is needed.
- The price is in writing before work, and the repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Range codes
Is FEE7 the same as FEE6?
They are close neighbors. FEE6 refers to the bake element circuit and FEE7 to the broil element circuit, so they send us to different parts of the oven.
Can I still bake?
Possibly, since the code names the broil side. Still, if the oven shows other signs of trouble or the code keeps returning, stop using it until we have looked.
Will a breaker reset fix it?
It can clear a one-time glitch. If the code repeats after the reset, the circuit itself needs testing, and that is work for us rather than a reset.
Still seeing FEE7?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
