What 1c1c or 1c2c means
1c1c and 1c2c appear on Maytag electric and gas freestanding and slide-in ranges, such as the MER8650ES and MGR6751BDW. They point to the user interface or keypad, or to the wires that run to it. The control cannot read the keypad correctly. You will see the code, and buttons may not respond or the oven may not start. Many of these ranges are years out of warranty and still cooking daily in Houston, and we repair them.
Common causes of 1c1c or 1c2c
- The user interface and keypad
- Wiring between the keypad and the control
- The control reading the keypad
1. Flip the range's breaker off for a minute. 2. Flip it on again. 3. Keep the display in sight for a minute and press a key or two to see whether the pads respond. 4. If you smell gas on a gas range, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside.
- A reset may clear it briefly, but a returning code needs a keypad and wiring test
- We test the circuit before quoting a part
- You get the price on paper before we start, and our labor carries a 30-day guarantee
Other Range codes
Do 1c1c and 1c2c differ?
They share one description, the user interface or keypad and the wiring around it. We check the same circuit for both codes and note which one your display shows.
Can I still cook while the code shows?
If the reset clears it and the buttons respond normally, careful use is reasonable. If the keypad stays dead or the code returns, stop using the range and call us.
Is an older range worth repairing for this?
Often it is, since a keypad circuit repair costs less than a new range. After testing we put a quote on paper, and if the range is simply too tired to justify the cost, we will tell you directly.
