MGR5751AD
Maytag MGR5751AD Gas Range Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Burner knob that feels stiff or loose
- Gas valve that does not shut off cleanly
- Knob that turns but the burner stays unlit
- Spark that fires only on some positions
The MGR5751AD is a Maytag gas range. It is sold with four endings, MGR5751ADB, MGR5751ADQ and MGR5751ADS, which usually separate the finishes. Gas feeds both the cooktop and the oven.
The knobs on a range like this do two jobs at once: they open a gas valve and trigger a spark switch. When a knob feels stiff, wobbles on its stem or turns without any flame, we look at the valve stem, the switch behind it and the knob insert before blaming the burner. A valve that does not close fully is a safety item and is handled first.
We then test the burners and the oven system. Valves and switches differ between revisions, so we copy the model and serial off the data plate before buying. Pricing is given in writing before work begins. Our workmanship is guaranteed for 30 days.

My MGR5751AD knob spins freely. Is the valve bad?
Often the knob insert or stem is worn, not the valve. We pull the knob, check the stem flats and test whether the valve still opens and closes. Replacing a knob is much cheaper than a valve.
Why does a burner click in only one knob position?
The spark switch behind the knob may be worn or dirty, so it makes contact only at certain angles. We test the switch, clean it or replace it, and then confirm the flame lights across the whole turn.
Is a burner that will not shut off urgent?
Yes. Close the supply valve behind the range, ventilate the room and call us. A valve that leaks gas past its seat should be replaced rather than adjusted, and we leak-test afterward.
