The MER5550BA is a Maytag electric range, and it is also sold as MER5550BAB, MER5550BAQ and MER5550BAW. It follows the MER5550AAW by number but is a different revision, which is why we do not borrow parts lists between them.

Why does my bake element turn on and off repeatedly?

Normal cycling holds temperature, but rapid on and off points to a loose terminal or a sensor reading incorrectly. We tighten and inspect connections, then test the sensor before changing any part.

A burner knob feels hot. What does that mean?

The switch contact behind it is likely failing and building heat. Shut the range off at the breaker, because a switch like that can damage wiring. We replace the switch after quoting.
