What Cycle Complete or Done means
On a Maytag top-load HE washer, such as the MVW7232HC or MVWC565FW, the Cycle Complete or Done light comes on when the wash cycle has finished. It simply tells you the load is ready. The light stays on until you open the lid, press Cancel or press the power button, depending on the model. Leaving wet clothes inside can leave them with a stale smell, so the washer suggests removing the load promptly. Nothing is wrong when you see it.
Common causes of Cycle Complete or Done
- Normal end-of-cycle indicator
- Load left in the drum after the cycle
- Light that does not clear when the lid opens
1. Open the lid and take out the load promptly. 2. If the light is still on, press Cancel or the power button. 3. Leave the lid open for a while so the drum can dry. 4. Start your next cycle and check that the light goes out. 5. If it never clears, note what you pressed.
- If the light stays on after the lid is opened and the controls are pressed, the lid switch or the control may be the cause, and we test them.
- A lit light at the end of a cycle is normal.
- You see a written price before we start any work.
Other Washer codes
Does Done mean my washer has a problem?
No. It simply means the cycle is over and the load is ready. It stays lit as a reminder until you open the lid or press Cancel or the power button.
Why does the light never turn off?
Open the lid fully and press Cancel or the power button. If it still stays on, the lid switch or the control may not be registering, and we can check it.
Should I leave clothes in until I'm ready?
It is better to take them out promptly, as the washer itself suggests. Wet laundry left in a closed drum for hours can pick up a musty smell.
