What LF means
LF is the long-fill message on the Maytag Bravos top-load HE washers, the MVWB series such as the MVWB765FW and MVWB865GC. It means the washer is taking too long to fill. In practice that points to water arriving slowly or not at all: kinked or clogged inlet hoses, or screens at the inlet valves that need clearing. Bravos is an older design, yet it is still found in many homes around Houston, and we repair it.
Common causes of LF
- Kinked or clogged water inlet hoses
- Clogged screens at the inlet valves
- A tap that is only partly open
- The inlet valves, once the water supply checks out
1. Press PAUSE/CANCEL to clear the display. 2. Check that both taps are fully open. 3. Look for kinks or crushing in the inlet hoses. 4. With the water off, check the screens where the hoses meet the washer and clear any debris. 5. Turn the water back on and start the cycle again.
- Clear hoses and screens with LF still returning point to the inlet valves or level sensing
- We test the flow into the washer instead of replacing valves on a guess
- The price comes in writing first, and if a Bravos is not worth repairing, we tell you plainly
Other Washer codes
What is LF on my Bravos washer?
LF means long fill: the washer is taking too long to fill with water. Check for kinked or clogged inlet hoses and clear the screens at the inlet valves.
How do I clear the display?
Press PAUSE/CANCEL to clear the display, correct the water supply issue and start the cycle again. If LF reappears again quickly, something is still restricting the fill and needs a closer look.
Is a Bravos worth fixing?
Often, yes. Bravos washers are older but common, and we repair them. We test first, write the price down before any work, and warrant the repair for 30 days.
Still seeing LF?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
