What FC E1, FC E2 or FC E3 means

Connected Maytag ranges, electric or gas and either freestanding or slide-in (the MER8650ES, MER7765WS0 and MGR6751BDW among them), show FC E1, FC E2 or FC E3 when it cannot reach your home router. The oven is not reporting a heating problem. It is telling you the wireless link to the network did not come up, and the cause can sit in the router, in the signal strength at the kitchen, in the range's Wi-Fi module or in the wiring that feeds that module. The code appears on the display, and the app stops talking to the range.

Common causes of FC E1, FC E2 or FC E3

  • Weak Wi-Fi signal or a connection that timed out at the kitchen
  • Router that is offline or needs its own restart
  • Wi-Fi module in the range
  • Wiring between the module and the control
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Shut off the range's circuit breaker and leave it off for sixty seconds. 2. Restore the breaker. 3. Stay by the range for a minute and look at the display to see if the code is back. 4. Check that the oven still bakes and the cooktop still heats normally. 5. Restart your wireless router, then reconnect the range in the app.

! Why to stop there
  • If the code returns after the breaker and router restarts, the module or its wiring needs a look, and no phone setting will show that.
  • We check the range side first so you do not replace a router that is working.
  • You get a written price before any work, and our repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
FC E1, FC E2 or FC E3FC E1, FC E2 or FC E3 questions
Does FC E1 mean my oven cannot cook?

No. These codes only describe the Wi-Fi link. The oven and cooktop usually work as normal, but the phone app and remote features will not respond until the connection returns.

Why does the code come back after I restart the router?

A router restart only fixes a network problem. If the range's own Wi-Fi module or its wiring is the cause, the code returns, and we test that part of the range directly.

Is it safe to switch the breaker off myself?

Yes, turning the range's breaker off for one minute is a normal reset. Make sure everything is off and cool first, and leave the panels and wiring behind the range alone.
