What Code shown as "F" and a number, beeping (older wall ovens) means
This applies to older Maytag built-in wall ovens in the MEW5527, MEW5627, MEW6527 and MEW5630 families. When the control detects a problem it shows the letter F followed by a number and beeps. The use and care guide for these ovens says to press CANCEL first. If the code and the beeping continue, disconnect power to the oven, wait a few minutes, and reconnect it. These are older ovens still in many Houston homes, and we repair them. If the code returns, the number tells us where to look.
Common causes of Code shown as "F" and a number, beeping (older wall ovens)
- A one-time control event that clears after power is removed
- The circuit named by the number after the F
- Connectors and wiring behind the control
1. Press CANCEL and note the exact F number on the display. 2. If the code and the beeping continue, turn off the circuit breaker for the oven. 3. Wait a few minutes, then turn the breaker back on. 4. If the code is still shown, leave the oven off and call us with the F number.
- The F number matters, so write it down before you reset anything
- A code that returns after a power-down needs testing, not repeated resets
- We tell you plainly if an older oven is not worth repairing, with the price in writing before work and a 30-day workmanship warranty
