What No or Partial Display means
A blank or partly lit display on a Maytag over-the-range microwave can be harmless. On select models an Energy Save mode puts the control and clock into sleep when the unit is not in use, so the display stays dark. If the panel does not wake when you touch it or shows only some segments, the problem is with power to the control or the display itself.
Common causes of No or Partial Display
- Energy Save mode on models that have it
- Power to the microwave through the breaker
- Control or display circuits if the panel stays blank or incomplete
1. Open and close the door, then touch a keypad button to wake the display. 2. Check the owner's manual or control guide for your model to see if Energy Save mode applies. 3. Make sure the breaker that feeds the microwave is on. 4. If the display is still blank or partial after those checks, stop and let us look at it.

How do I know if Energy Save mode is on?
On select models the display stays blank when the microwave is idle. A door opening or button touch usually wakes it. Your model's owner's manual says whether it has the feature.
Is a partial display dangerous?
It is not a hazard by itself, but it means part of the display or control is not working. Do not use the microwave if you cannot read what it is doing.
Can you repair an older Maytag microwave with a bad display?
Yes. We quote in writing, and if the cost does not suit the age of the microwave, we say so plainly.
Still seeing No or Partial Display?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
