What lid means

The display word lid shows on Maytag top-load HE washers when the lid was opened during a cycle. It applies to models with electronic control such as the MVW6230HW and MVWC565FW, and to the older Bravos MVWB series such as the MVWB765FW. Closing the lid clears the display. If the lid stays open for more than 10 minutes, the cycle resets and the water in the tub drains. Bravos is an older platform that remains in many homes; we repair it and say plainly when a repair is not worth it.

The lid was opened during a cycle. Close it to clear the display, and the washer carries on. If it stays open too long, it drains instead.

How long can the lid stay open?

Up to 10 minutes. After more than 10 minutes the cycle resets and the water in the washer drains, so you would have to start the cycle over from the beginning.

Should I add detergent after a reset?

No. The clothing should already be penetrated with water and detergent, so starting over without extra detergent is correct. If lid shows with the lid closed, call us.
