MGT8775X
Maytag MGT8775X Gas Range Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Burner that stays lit only while the knob is held
- Oven that cycles off too soon
- Gas odor around the range back
- Uneven browning from side to side
MGT8775X is a Maytag gas range, with gas supplying all burners and the oven. It is also found as MGT8775XB, MGT8775XS and MGT8775XW, usually separate finishes.
A burner that burns only while the knob is held in often has a problem in the flame-sensing safety path, and we test the valve and sensing parts before replacing anything. If you notice gas at the back of the range, we look at the connector and shutoff valve first, with the range pulled forward. For uneven browning, we look at the burner flame and compare the oven sensor with a thermometer.
If the range has years of use behind it, we say plainly whether a repair or a replacement makes better sense. The tag on the frame tells us which parts to order. The estimate is in writing before we start, and our labor is guaranteed for 30 days.

Error codes this model can show
My MGT8775X burner stays lit only while I hold the knob. What does that mean?
Usually the safety sensing for that burner is not holding the valve open. We test the valve and sensing parts and replace only what fails.
Why does my oven brown unevenly side to side?
An uneven flame or a sensor that reads wrong can do it. We check the burner flame pattern, clean the ports, and compare the sensor against a separate thermometer.
Is the MGT8775XB the same range as the MGT8775X?
The XB ending is listed as a version of the same number, typically a finish. We confirm the full number from your label to match parts.
