What F0E2 means

F0E2 means excessive suds. It shows on Maytag front-load HE washers (MHW models such as the MHW5630HW and MHW6630HC) and on Maytag top-load HE washers (such as the MVW6230HW), including the older Bravos era. On a front-loader, the washer detects too many suds in the basket and runs an automatic suds reduction routine, so you should let it continue. On a top-loader, the load may not be fully rinsed or the water may not be fully removed, and a Rinse/Spin cycle can help.

Common causes of F0E2

  • Detergent that is not high-efficiency, or more detergent than recommended
  • A load too dirty or too soapy for a single rinse
  • Residue from earlier cycles, if suds keep returning with the right soap
✓ One safe check you can try

1. On a front-loader, let the washer run so the suds reduction routine can finish. 2. On a top-loader, select a Rinse/Spin cycle for further rinsing. 3. Use only HE detergent from now on, and measure it. 4. If suds keep coming back with the right detergent, let us look at it.

! Why to stop there
  • If the suds are clearly from soap, there is little for us to repair, and we say so
  • A washer that keeps stopping on suds with the right detergent needs its sensing and drain path checked
  • A Bravos of this age may not justify a repair, and we will say so before any work starts
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F0E2F0E2 questions
What causes F0E2 on a Maytag washer?

Too many suds. The usual reason is detergent that is not high-efficiency, or too much of it. HE washers use little water, so extra soap has nowhere to go.

Should I stop the cycle?

On a front-loader, no. Let it run its suds reduction routine. On a top-loader, afterward select a Rinse/Spin cycle to finish rinsing the load, since it may not be fully rinsed or drained.

When should I call you?

When the code repeats with correct HE detergent and measured amounts. Then we test the water level sensing and the drain path together. We quote in writing before work and give a 30-day warranty.
