What Wash Light On or Flashing means
On a Maytag top-load HE washer with electronic control, such as the MVW7232HC or MVWC565FW, the Wash light comes on or flashes when the water level has not changed for a while. It also happens when water is present but the control does not detect the level changing. If the light is on or flashing and no wash cycle is running, the first suspect is the water supply, so look at the connections before anything else.
Common causes of Wash Light On or Flashing
- Water supply connected incorrectly or only partly turned on
- Taps not fully open
- Clogged screens or kinked hoses limiting the flow
- Level sensing, if water is present and the control still sees no change
1. Confirm the water supply is connected correctly. 2. Verify that both the hot and cold faucets are completely open. 3. Turn off the water and check the inlet hose screens for debris. 4. Look for kinked hoses. 5. Turn the water back on and start the cycle again.
- Water in the tub with the light still on points to the level sensing instead of the supply
- We check whether the control sees the level change as the tub fills
- You get the price in writing first, and we say plainly if an older washer is not worth the repair
Other Washer codes
Why is my Wash light flashing with no cycle running?
The water level has not changed for a while, or water is present but the control does not see the level changing. Check the supply first.
What should I check at the taps?
Make sure the supply is connected correctly and that both the hot and cold faucets are completely open. A half-open tap can starve the fill.
When is it the washer?
If supply, hoses and screens are fine and the light stays. Then level sensing needs testing. We quote in writing and warrant repairs for 30 days.
