What All cycle and option lights flashing means
On Maytag built-in dishwashers with an electronic control, all of the cycle and option-selected lights flash together when the door was opened during a running cycle. The flashing tells you the cycle is suspended, not that anything has failed. It is common when you stop to add a forgotten cup. Once the door is shut and latched, the flashing stops and the cycle picks up where it left off on select models.
Common causes of All cycle and option lights flashing
- Door opened mid-cycle to add an item
- Door shut but not fully latched
- Latch or door switch not registering a closed door
1. Push the door firmly closed until you hear it latch. 2. Check that nothing, such as a rack handle or a dish, is blocking the door. 3. Wait a short moment, since the cycle resumes by itself after a slight delay at the point it was interrupted. 4. If the lights keep flashing with the door shut, press Start or Resume once.
- Lights that keep flashing with a latched door point to the latch or door switch
- We test whether the control sees the door as closed
- A latched door that still reads as open is what we find out with the latch test

Is it normal for every light to flash?
Yes, when the door has been opened during a cycle. All the cycle and option lights flash to show the cycle is suspended, and they stop once the door latches again.
Will the cycle restart on its own?
On select models it resumes after a slight delay, picking up where it stopped. If it does not, pressing Start or Resume once is the normal way to continue.
When should I call about flashing lights?
If the door is closed, latched and unobstructed and the lights still flash, the dishwasher may not be registering the door. That is a latch or switch check we handle.
