What F2E2 means

F2E2 on a Maytag built-in dishwasher with electronic control is another main control communication code, like F1E2 but with its own number. It means the main control and the rest of the electronics are not communicating as they should. The blinking form is two flashes, a pause, then two more. You may see the cycle stop, the panel go quiet, or the code return after a restart.

Common causes of F2E2

  • Communication path to the main control
  • Connection that opens and closes as the door moves
  • Console and control not syncing
  • Main control, once the path tests good
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Switch off the dishwasher's breaker for 30 seconds if it is hard wired, or disconnect its power for 30 seconds. 2. Restore power. 3. Start a short cycle and watch the lights. 4. If F2E2 shows again, schedule service.

! Why to stop there
  • The code returning after a reset means the path needs tracing
  • We test the connections that flex with the door
  • Intermittent codes are the hard ones, and we test with the door in several positions
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F2E2F2E2 questions
How is F2E2 different from F1E2?

Both are main control communication codes. The different number tells us where the dishwasher noticed the trouble, so we use it to choose where to start testing.

Does opening the door matter?

Connections that pass through the door area can move with it. We check them, since a signal that drops intermittently can look like a random error.

Can I run it on a shorter cycle?

If the code is gone after a reset, a short cycle is reasonable. If it returns, we recommend stopping until we have tested the control.
