MDB4030
Maytag MDB4030 Series Dishwasher Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Puddle in front of the dishwasher
- Water remaining in the sump
- Dishes damp after the heated dry
- Panel buttons that stop responding
MDB4030 is a series number for Maytag built-in dishwashers, and a listed sibling ends in AWW. That ending, and any others, appear on your label. This is an older series, but we still see it in Houston homes where the kitchen has stayed as it was built.
A leak at the front of the door is the problem we look at most closely with this series. We check the door gasket for flattening or tears, the tub edge for buildup, the spray arms for cracks, and the hose clamps below. The leak often shows only when a particular part of the cycle is running, so we run a full cycle with the door panel off.
After the leak is found we check the drain and the heated dry, since an older unit often has more than one worn part. You get a written estimate first. If a repair is poor value, we say so. Repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Where does a dishwasher leak usually come from?
Often the door gasket, a cracked spray arm, a loose hose clamp or the pump seal. We run a full cycle with the lower panel off and watch to see where the water starts.
Why does water stay in the bottom?
The drain hose, filter or pump may be blocked or weak. We check each, starting with the easiest, and we test the sink connection too, since a partly blocked disposer inlet can hold water back.
Will you tell me if it is not worth fixing?
Yes. On older units we give you the repair cost in writing and say honestly if a replacement is the better choice, so you are never pushed into a repair that does not make sense.
