What F6 E9 means
F6 E9 means there may be a problem with the lower oven appliance manager on a Maytag built-in wall oven, or with the wiring to it. On a double oven that board looks after the bottom cavity. When the control cannot get a normal response, it displays F6 E9. The lower oven may not start or may stop mid-cycle. The upper oven has its own board, so it often keeps working as usual.
Common causes of F6 E9
- The lower oven appliance manager
- Wiring and connectors to the lower board
- The main control talking to it
1. Switch off the breaker that feeds the oven for one minute. 2. Switch it back on. 3. Wait one minute for any return of F6 E9. 4. If it is clear, run a short bake in the lower oven and check that it reaches heat.
- The code tells us the area, not whether the board or a connector is the cause
- We test before we order, so you do not pay for a part that was not needed
- We write the price down first and give a 30-day workmanship warranty

Which cavity does F6 E9 name compared with F6 E6?
F6 E6 refers to the upper oven manager, and F6 E9 refers to the lower one. That tells us which cavity to start with. Both are board and wiring checks.
Can I use the upper oven in the meantime?
Often yes. Test it with a short bake first and watch it while it heats. If the upper oven also gives codes, stop using both ovens and call us so we can test the whole control system.
Is an older built-in double oven worth repairing?
Frequently, since replacing a built-in costs far more than a board repair. We test, quote in writing, and tell you plainly if the age of the oven makes repair a poor choice.
