What F7 E0, F7 E1, F7 E5, F7 E6, F8 E0 or F8 E2 means
On Maytag built-in wall ovens, F7 E0 concerns the water level or water level sensor, and F7 E1 concerns the water boiler temperature sensor, so both apply only to steam-capable ovens. F8 E0 points to an airflow restriction or the upper oven cooling fan, and F8 E2 to the oven cooling fan. We have no separate wall-oven meaning for F7 E5 or F7 E6, so we test the same controls and wiring for them. Because fans cool the oven electronics, treat F8 codes seriously and stop using the oven until it is checked.
Common causes of F7 E0, F7 E1, F7 E5, F7 E6, F8 E0 or F8 E2
- Water level sensor circuit for F7 E0
- Boiler temperature sensor circuit for F7 E1
- Cooling fan, wiring and any blocked airflow for F8 E0 and F8 E2
- Control reading each circuit
1. Switch off the oven and let it cool. 2. Check that nothing is blocking the vents around the oven. 3. Turn off the oven's circuit breaker for one minute, then turn it on. 4. Watch the display for a minute, and do not use the oven if an F8 code returns.
- The codes cover steam parts and fans, so the first job is to match your code to the right circuit
- Fan codes can mean heat is not leaving the cabinet, so we do not advise running the oven
- Our quote is written before work, and the repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty
Other Wall Oven codes
Does my oven have steam?
Only some do. F7 E0 and F7 E1 apply to steam-capable wall ovens. If yours has a water container and a steam menu, these codes apply. If not, tell us what the display shows.
What does a cooling fan code mean for safety?
The fan moves air through the cabinet to keep the electronics cool. If it stops or the air is blocked, parts can run hot. Stop using the oven and let us inspect it.
What about F7 E5 and F7 E6?
We do not have a separate wall-oven meaning for them. We treat them as control-area codes: reset once, and if they return we test the controls and wiring before saying anything more.
