On Maytag electric and induction cooktops, FC E4 refers to the wire harness that runs between the touchpad and the induction module. The touchpad is where you set the heat, and the induction module is the part that drives the cooking areas. When communication through that harness is in doubt, the display shows FC E4 and one or more cooking areas may refuse to heat.
