The control uses it to know whether the door is shut, and the latch to lock it for cleaning. If the answer from either one is wrong, the control stops and shows a code.

Can I force the door lock open?

No. Forcing it can damage the latch. If the door stays locked after the oven cools, call us and we release it correctly.

Is it worth repairing the latch on an older Maytag oven?
