What F03, F13, F22 or F0E4 means

F03, F13, F22 and F0E4 on a Maytag electric cooktop mean an internal communication error on the touch control module. The parts that read your touches and the parts that drive the heat have stopped talking properly. The cooktop may refuse to heat, ignore the keys, or show the code repeatedly. This applies to radiant, smoothtop and induction cooktops. The brand's instruction is a breaker reset for one minute followed by a one-minute watch to see whether the code comes back.

Common causes of F03, F13, F22 or F0E4

  • Touch control module losing contact with the rest of the control
  • Wiring or connector between the modules
  • Power board that communicates with the touch control
  • Voltage dip that interrupted the communication
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Switch the cooktop off at its breaker(s) and wait one minute. 2. Switch the breaker(s) on again. 3. Give the display a minute to show whether the code returns. 4. Try a cooking area with a pan. 5. Should the code come back, do not keep trying; leave the cooktop off and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • A one-time communication error can follow a power dip, but a repeat suggests a failing connection or module
  • We test the wiring and connectors before replacing a module
  • You approve the written price first
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F03, F13, F22 or F0E4F03, F13, F22 or F0E4 questions
Why are there four different codes for one problem?

The cooktop labels the same type of internal communication problem differently depending on the control version. They share a meaning and a first step, which is the breaker reset.

Can a power flicker cause this?

Yes, a brief dip can interrupt communication between the control parts. If the code clears after the reset and stays away, it may have been a one-off.

How serious is it?

It is a control-level matter, not a heat danger. Still, a cooktop that heats unpredictably or ignores the keys should stay off until we have tested it, so do not keep trying it if the code returns.
